‘Shovel Knight Plague of Shadows’ DLC to be Released by Fall 2015

Speaking at Pax Prime, Yacht Club’s Sean Velasco said, “No, we don’t have anything to say about that”, responding to a question from the crowd if Shovel Knight will be added as a DLC character in “Super Smash Bros 4″.

What this means is that Yacht Club will be making the Amiibo themselves but Nintendo pretty much have the final say on the design and the functions that it will bring to the game.

“Pac-Man”, “Mega Man”, and “Street Fighter’s” Ryu are the previously released Amiibo that were all designed for “Super Smash Brothers”. According to iDigital Times, the recent announcement that Shovel Knight would be receiving its first official third-party amiibo has even fueled up the latest buzz. Velasco is the “Captain” at Yacht Club Games.

Meanwhile, “Smash Bros.” fans should enjoy the regular updates provided by Nintendo to make the game more enjoyable.

“We’re basically licensing the amiibo technology from Nintendo, and they’ve been overseeing it every step of the way”, Velasco explained to Destructoid.

This rumor may have come from Nintendo Life, in which it was stated that multiple sources have revealed to the news outlet that Shovel Knight will make it to the “Smash Bros.” roster. We’re manufacturing and distributing the thing ourselves, but Nintendo is there with oversight. The Amiibo figure will also be offering deep customization features that include cosmetic options, power, additional abilities, new relics and of course, cool looks for the available playable characters.

As the trailer shows, the Shovel Knight amiibo will unlock the new co-op mode in Shovel Knight on the Wii U. It will now be possible to dig your way to victory with a friend in tow.

Regarding the rumor, it was said that Yacht Club Games branded them as “fake”. Unfortunately, no release date or even a release window has been revealed. If you want the extra goodies, you’ll have to buy the amiibo. To top it off, the amiibo figure will be supported in future Shovel Knight games.

Attendees play Super Smash Bros. on Nintendo Wii U at E3 Electronic Entertainment Expo June 10, 2014 in Los Angeles, California.
