Spurs see £15 million offer for West Ham midfielder rebuffed

Fans will likely debate whether religious or financial reasons are the primary cause for this latest twist, but as things stand, Adebayor could very well see out the final year of his contract without playing a minute of Premier League football.

Emmanuel Adebayor had apparently already had his picture taken holding the Aston Villa kit when he decided against the move to the midlands on the advice of his pastor according to a report from the Telegraph. Head coach Mauricio Pochettino has made it clear there is no way back for the former Arsenal and Manchester City man.

The Togolese forward discussed the possibility of a loan move to Aston Villa earlier in the summer, but the transfer failed to materialise.

West Ham made an offer for Adebayor on loan last week, but the club was left befuddled when he did not turn up for a scheduled medical before requesting more time to mull over the switch.

Jelavic was relegated with the Tigers last season and has scored once in five appearances so far this campaign.

Tottenham and Adebayor will likely continue negotiating his termination, but with the transfer deadline now passed, he won’t be able to sign for another club until the next window opens in January.

The 31-year-old played under Sherwood at Tottenham and is said to have shared a good relationship with the Villa boss at White Hart Lane.
