Former Tesla Engineer Accessed Manager’s Email, Posted Confidential Docs

Former Tesla engineer faces federal charges for computer intrusion for allegedly hacking his manages email to leak employee data.

He appeared in U.S. District Court in San Jose three days later following his arrest before Magistrate Judge Paul Grewal, according to the San Francisco office of the FBI.

Federal authorities said Kalbasi somehow gained access to his former manager’s email account, found communications involving employee evaluations and other confidential material and then posted the ill-gotten goods on a public website.

Based on the indictment, Kalbasi posted confidential info on a public web site and meant to “hurt Tesla’s popularity and credibility” by making false and deceptive feedback.

A lawyer for Kalbasi declined comment.

A 28-year-old Canadian citizen, Nima Kalbasi was arrested in Vermont last month as he crossed the border into the USA, According to the News release on Thursday. Tesla Motors has a 52 week low of $181.40 and a 52 week high of $286.65.

The first Model X vehicles will likely to cost between $132,000 and $144,000. The company has a 50-day moving average price of $252.03 and a 200 day moving average price of $234.44. The Auto-Cars & Light Trucks company announced earnings per share of $-0.82 against a consensus Street estimate of $-1.39, beating the average estimate by $0.57.

Morgan Stanley increased their price objective on Tesla Motors from $280.00 to $465.00 and gave the company an overweight rating in a research report on Monday, August 17th. Of those nineteen, eight have a Buy rating, six have a Hold rating and five have a Sell rating.

UBS downgraded their Neutral rating to Sell on July 21, and decreased their price target from $220 to $210.
