The towering firenado erupted after lightning struck the warehouse, and 800,000 gallons of the alcoholic drink spilled into a retention pond and went up in flames.

The ideal combination of alcohol, water and wind created firenados spiralling upwards Fortunately, the building was situated close to a creek, meaning that the fire was eventually extinguished.

While the pond kept the fire from spreading, any and all wildlife in it were contaminated and killed.

“You have to have the exact right conditions for something like this to happen: A body of water with a flammable substance on top and weather conditions that whip the fire into a funnel”.

Craig Fluer, a wild land firefighter with the U.S. Forest Service, shared a video online last month of a firenado, or “fire whirl”, throwing flames 100 feet into the air during Idaho’s Soda Fire.

The company paid state authorities almost $27,000 in clean-up costs for this booze-fuelled spectacle.

The brand is one of the most popular bourbon whiskeys in the world.
