Texas scored 3 runs in a wacky way off a bases-loaded single by Elvis Andrus.

Bud Norris didn’t surrender a hit while pitching the final two innings for the Padres.

The Rangers hadn’t seen a straight steal of home in a while, as the last time it happened, the movie Gladiator was in theaters.

Rangers: RHP Yovani Gallardo (11-9, 3.14) is scheduled to start Tuesday night. Matt Kemp continued his torrid pace, going 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs while finishing a triple shy of the cycle.

“We had three guys go out tonight in the game”, Murphy said. “All we can do is to come in tomorrow and see what the diagnosis is and move on and get ready to play”. The Red Sox outfielder grew up in Washington Court House, Ohio and played baseball at Kent State University.

Texas reliever Ross Ohlendorf (2-0) pitched a scoreless sixth for the win. He struck out Justin Upton looking before Jed Gyorko had an RBI single and Austin Hedges a sacrifice fly.

Texas took a Three-Zero benefit within the third when middle fielder Delino DeShields singled and scored on proper fielder Shin-Soo Choo’s double.

The game would be tied soon thereafter, when the Rangers’ Chris Gimenez homered off of Padres’ starting pitcher Ian Kennedy in the fifth. He walked two (one intentional) and had two strikeouts.

With no eyes on him, Andrus took off. Just look how far down the line he got before the crowd’s building roar got Quackenbush to look up and attempt to shorten his throw to home.

Alonso left in the third inning with lower back tightness, which Murphy said he had been dealing with for a few days and could sideline him for several more.

“I’ve enjoyed the past couple games because I’ve gotten a good hang of how the American League is and how to treat each inning and how to maintain the focus throughout the whole game”. Texas 1B Mitch Moreland didn’t start any of the games in San Diego but will be in the lineup Friday against the Los Angeles Angels…. Hamilton, who had missed 18 of the previous 24 games, is expected to be restricted to pinch-hitting duty.
