USA woman refuses to grant gay marriage licence, jailed indefinitely

Huckabee – who has hitched his fading star of a campaign to the fortunes of Kim Davis, the Kentucky county clerk who is now sitting in jail for contempt after refusing marriage licenses to same-sex couples – explained that there is no specific law Davis should have been following.

Rowan County clerk Kim Davis is shown in this booking photo provided by the Carter County Detention Center in Grayson, Kentucky, on September 3, 2015. They then approached deputy clerk Brian Mason to fill out an application. She was arrested after refusing to issue licenses to same-sex couple in Rowan County. “Love won!” Yates and Smith said they plan a small ceremony at the home of Yates’ parents.

“She can take a pass and let somebody else in the office do it in terms of religious”, he concluded.

James Yates and William Smith were the first couple through the door, pushing through a thick scrum of cameras and microphones to pay $35.50 for a marriage license. Miller had a morning class to teach at Morehead State; Roberts had a migraine.

Ted Cruz: “I stand with Kim Davis, unequivocally”.

Huckabee is scheduled to visit a Kentucky jail next week to meet with a county clerk imprisoned because she ignored repeated court orders to issue marriage licenses to gay couples. The deputies agreed, under oath.

“Absolutely, I feel the same way. Deputy clerks have said they will commence issuing marriage licenses beginning (Friday)”, he said.

“At this point, the supreme court has spoken”.

‘God’s moral law conflicts with my job duties, ‘ Davis told the judge before a federal marshal escorted her out. Davis refused to issue any marriage licenses, citing her Christian beliefs and opposition to gay marriage. “It is a Heaven or Hell decision”.

Ms. Davis, who as an Apostolic Christian believes a marriage can only be between a man and a woman, had refused to issue any marriage licenses since the U.S. Supreme Court in June made gay marriage legal across the United States. Even Judge Bunning does not know if the licenses will be truly valid. “The idea of natural law superseding this court’s authority would be a unsafe precedent indeed”. He said Davis is in very good spirits and is fully prepared to stay as long it takes to defend her religious freedoms. Davis’s attorney said Friday that she has no intention to resign.

Kim Davis has said she couldn’t go against her Christian values.

“They are not worth the paper they are printed on”, Matthew Staver from Liberty Counsel said, adding that Davis’ name does not appear on the licenses.

“We have a lot of young people who sit on the fence on an issue like this”.
