A brief explainer of the Miley Cyrus-Nicki Minaj VMA beef

Twitter users quickly criticized Salon for using the word “savage” to describe Minaj – even though the story in question portrayed the rapper in a positive light. She also joined Minaj during the rapper’s opening set to sing “The Night Is Still Young” and “Bad Blood”.

After collecting best hip-hop video for Anaconda, Minaj went on to slam the Wrecking Ball singer, who had criticised her in a interview prior to the award show.

When asked about the feud between Nicki and Taylor, Miley told the New York Times she thought Minaj handled the situation poorly.

Miley Cyrus recently confirmed to Paper Magazine that she came out to her mother at age 14.

Cyrus may have grown up from the little teeny bopper she once was, but this new Miley is one big attention-grabbing individual.

Cyrus seemed to take it in stride, responding, “Hey, we’re all in this industry, we all do interviews and we all know how they manipulate s**t”.

Instead it was Nicki who shared her opening performance with Taylor Sunday night so the headlines could squash the beef that never was.

“I’m not trying to be in the squad”, she continued.

And what a SPEECH it was.

My initial plan was to ignore last night’s MTV Video Music Awards. Something about inviting Taylor onstage felt like an un-needed apology from Nicki that rubbed me the wrong way.

I don’t get the violence revenge thing. “Not to sound like a b***, but that’s like, ‘Eh, I didn’t get my VMA” … “There’s creative competition because of the historical nature of the show and moments that go on to live in pop culture”.

“This arena tomorrow is gonna be a completely different setup, this stage will be gone”.

In 2009, Kelly tweeted about wanting to attend the VMAs. Miley told the outlet that she didn’t respect her fellow musician because of the anger in which it was portrayed. Say: ‘This is the reason why I think it’s important to be nominated.

Cyrus closed the show at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles with a performance, which started with the line: “Yeah, I spoke pot”. Dressed either in disguise, or as some sort of mime artist, Bieber’s mood soon echoed his black clothing, and he was so overcome by singing his songs Where Are U Now and What Do You Mean that he cried. After revealing that West’s debut “The College Dropout” was the first album she ever bought on iTunes (a stealthy Apple advertising plug, if there ever was one), Swift introduced Kanye with an all too expected “I’mma let you finish” joke.
