Nandhakumar said chief ministers of six states are expected to participate in Kalam’s funeral on Wednesday. Dr Abdul Kalam, President of India, from 2002 till 2007, also known as the Missile Man, is no more. Abdul Kalam, Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe said his innovative ideas on sustainable development will influence Sri Lanka’s development initiatives and practice for years to come. Parsekar described Kalam as a “great patriot, great scientist and inspiration to the youth”.
He said Kalam always endeavoured his best for the uplift and welfare of the poor, downtrodden and the marginalised sections of the society. India has lost yet another precious jewel, who dedicated his life to his country. “His quotes are a book of knowledge, so we started the day with his quotes during assembly”.
Former president A.P.J. Abdul Kalam was concerned about people with disability and along with his team developed lightweight prosthetics from space-age material to enable disabled children to walk easily.

Mohan Hiremani recalled his visit to Dr Kalam’s house at Rameshwaram, and stated that the simplicity of Dr Kalam should be adapted by all. “As a president he made a mark of specialty”, Sarkar told reporters. “He (Kalam) was made the president because the BJP wanted to garner Muslim votes”, he said.
