The solemn festival is a specific day on which Muslims are not permitted to fast.
In his message, the President noted the importance of the monthlong dawn-to-sunset fasting by Muslims in instilling discipline and good values among members of the Islamic faith.
The senator, in commemoration of this year’s Eid-el-Fitri wished all Muslims a happy sallah adding that may Allah, grant the bountiful blessings and mercy of the Holy month.
Eid al-Fitr means “festival of breaking the fast” and is a religious holiday celebrated by Muslims around the world. At this, the Prophet remarked that the Almighty has fixed two days [of festivity] instead of these for you which are better than these: Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha.
“We also urge the nation to shun any acts of violence, intolerance and impunity that has the tendency to disturb the peace and tranquility of the nation”. This may have been done to coincide with the announcement by Saudi Arabia that Eid al-Fitr will begin on July 6. “Our prayers are with the hundreds of innocent lives, many of them Muslim, taken during the month of Ramadan in places like Orlando, Istanbul, Dhaka, Baghdad, and Madinah”.
Since it rained in the state’s northern districts on Wednesday morning, devout Muslims at many places had to remain indoors for the morning prayers.
The Forgi chief sent his congratulations to all Muslims in South Sudan for Eid al Fitr, calling for peace and tolerance in the country. The day falls on 6th of July in most of the countries.
