A contrite Riley wishes he’d done more to keep Wade in Miami

This is the first time Wade is changing teams.

Dwyane Wade, a 12-time All-Star and the face of the Miami Heat franchise, made his decision on July 6 to sign a two-year, $47.5 million deal with the Chicago Bulls, roughly $7 million more than the Heat could offer.

In the early hours of the morning Whiteside then published a statement declaring his intention to remain with the Miami Heat.

Ironically, Wade’s latest contract may have been the one that led to his divorce from Pat Riley and the Heat.

In a new environment and on a new team, Wade will now have to deliver on his promise of still being a star. It was the second year in a row that his season was cut short at the February All-Star break because of health concerns that stemmed from blood clot issues. So, with the Bulls looking like a quality team, Wade had to make the move.

The 2015-16 season was a solid one for Wade, as he averaged 19 points and 4.6 assists per game, but injury concerns have continued to hamper him in recent years.

“We either, number one, wouldn’t have been able to do Tobias Harris during the year”, Van Gundy said.

“I’m sure it’s going to be a new tempo”, Udonis Haslem, who will return to Miami for a 14th season, told reporters. Few players identified more with a city than Wade with Miami, and I’ll even say Wade, three titles later, is the No. 1 athlete in South Florida history, ahead of former Miami Dolphins quarterback Dan Marino. And I know we’d be open to that. Joe Johnson went to the Utah Jazz, and Amar’e Stoudemire and Dorell Wright are unsigned. The Richards High product finally picked his hometown franchise when he rejected the Heat’s two-year $41 million deal after years of taking lesser deals for other signings. They first netted Rajon Rondo on a two-year deal worth 28 million dollars.

“People in Miami, people around that team in Miami think that that is part of this math for Dwyane Wade”.

If Bosh is healthy, the Heat certainly have a chance to make the postseason.

Like most of the league, Miami will have the opportunity to improve greatly next summer. Recalling in the 2015 National Basketball Association free agency, DeAndre Jordan agreed to sign a maximum contract with the Dallas Mavericks.

“Derrick Williams is an elite athlete above and beyond, from an athletic standpoint, and we think we can raise his 30-percent 3-point shooting to maybe 37 or 38”.

During the previous season, Dragić was again a key piece for the Heat.
