A ‘Deadwood’ movie may still happen on HBO

One wonders if the HBO executives will warm up to the idea, especially when the movie version of the hit series, Entourage, failed to appease critics and fans alike earlier this year. Your favorite show could soon return as a movie, if reports circulating online media are to be believed. Fans of the series know exactly what word is being referred to here and there might be some more of it in our future.

A spokesman for HBO confirmed to Variety that “very preliminary discussions” have been made to resurrect the Western series with a movie, though it’s unclear how serious the premium channel is about the pic.

“So uh… I’m hearing credible rumours about a #Deadwood movie”, he posted on Twitter.

“Deadwood” remains one of the most beloved and talked about series in HBO history for a show that was cancelled after only three seasons.

Very preliminary conversations are still better than no conversations, and they’re enough to get us doing an Al Swearengen happy dance.

Is HBO’s “Deadwood” coming back from the dead? But Entourage only finished in 2011 and the movie talk never really stopped in the interim.

The tweet by Garret Dillahunt, then, comes as another hope for Deadwood fans, who are fervently waiting to visit 1870s South Dakota again. But in Deadwood it was all about setting the gritty scene, this hopeless scrap of humanity at the edge of the world, scraping and stealing and blugeoning and rutting to survive.
