The unlucky homeowners lived at 7601 Calypso Drive, but Google Maps lists the same location for 7601 Cousteau Drive – the home that should have been knocked down.

An employee from the teardown company, Billy L. Nabors Demolition, reportedly sent the heartbroken homeowner a screenshot of Google Maps to explain the mistake.

A Google Maps error led a demolition crew astray, causing them to demolish the wrong house. While waiting for their insurance and FEMA to help them, their home was completely torn down by the demolition team that, uh, pretty much destroyed the wrong house. They were supposed to demolish another tornado-damaged house one block away, on Cousteau Drive. “I was so upset, and I was just hoping that it was a bad joke – that someone was messing with me”.

She says that the firm behind the mix-up, Billy L. Nabors Demolition, refuses to apologise. They called him. They said we’re at 7601, 7603.

She’s since filed a police report, if only to have documentation about the incident.
