‘A Dog’s Purpose’ Trailer, Poster and Photos Arrive

A Dog’s goal just dropped a brand new trailer for the upcoming movie, just in time for National Dog Day! While that may seem a little bit creepy (even the dog is onto the somewhat faulty premise when asking himself the question “Is there a objective to this journey of mine?”), it’s not hard to shed a tear or two, or just become a weepy mess.

This might be better than I expected from a talking dog movie, as the film gets really existential on a dog’s true objective, of which there are many depending upon the breed, the owner, etc. Basically, if you were destroyed by the final act of Marley & Me, get ready to watch a movie where that happens multiple times!

The ensemble cast is made up of a variety of familiar faces, from Dennis Quaid to Tomorrowland star Britt Robertson. And hey, what better way to celebrate man’s best friend than with a trailer for a movie that’ll let you watch the single worst part of the joyful ritual of dog ownership not just once, but repeatedly? And that’s not just because I too have a dog since I think A Dog’s goal might have something to offer even to people that maybe don’t enjoy the company of dogs as much.

With a cast that includes Josh Gad as the voice of Bailey, Dennis Quaid, Britt Robertson, Peggy Lipton, Luke Kirby and Pooch Hall, A Dog’s objective looks to be a heartwarming family movie that is equal parts humor, drama and heart wrenching. Dog people: is this trailer more cute or creepy?

Based on W. Bruce Cameron’s 2010 best-selling novel of the same, A Dog’s goal is set for release on January 27, 2017.

Based on the bestselling 2010 novel by W. Bruce Cameron, “A Dog’s Purpose” is directed by Lasse Hallström (“The 100-Foot Journey”) and centers on one devoted dog who finds the meaning of his own existence through the lives of the humans he loves by teaching them to laugh and love.
