A few Herr’s potato chips recalled for incorrect gluten label

Herr Foods, Inc. has announced a voluntary recall of sour cream and onion potato chips due to a packaging error.

The back panel on the bags of Herr Foods potato chips lists wheat as one of the ingredients and lists the statement “contains wheat” according to Food and Drug Administration guidelines. The recalled product was distributed nationwide through retail stores, distributors and internet sales as individual bags.

The bags are a metallic green color with a red Herr’s logo at the top.

The store said it has removed the chips from their stores. The UPC code 7260000061 is located in the upper right hand corner of the front of the package.

The Nottingham, Lancaster County company on Tuesday issued the recall of the 1.875 ounce chip bags. Symptoms can include diarrhea, fatigue, headaches, abdominal pain, brain fog, rashes, nausea, vomiting, and other reactions. MARTIN’S said it has not received any reports of illnesses to date. The UPC number is located at the lower right hand corner of the back panel of the package. No other Herr’s products are involved with this recall. The product is not gluten free, but is safe for consumption by those not affected by a gluten allergy or intolerance.
