Ackley responded to news of the trade, saying it was “crazy” but that he was “excited for what the future has to bring”, per MLB.com’s Greg Johns. He only has a. 635 OPS this season, but slashes.296/.397/.481 at Yankees Stadium, with two home runs, and nine RBI. He’s just 27 years old and did hit a career-high 14 homers last year. Ackley split time between second base and the outfield in 2013, then became the regular left fielder in 2014 after Seattle signed Robinson Cano as a free agent.
