A pardon for Snowden puts cart before the horse
Glenn Greenwald, one of the journalists who originally received Snowden’s cache of documents, also took to Twitter to push back on the committee’s report.

“I will be voting”, Snowden said, speaking at a conference in Athens by video link from Moscow. “And I won’t be doing so with mine”, Snowden said.
He added: “What I will say about the candidates is that I’m disappointed we’re not hearing much about the constitution in this election cycle. What Ed did was remind us as public citizens that there are things that are happening that we’re not aware of, so we can’t hold our government accountable”, Woodley said.
In Hawaii, Snowden’s last permanent place of residency in the U.S., only convicts serving time in prison are denied the right to vote. If Laura Poitras’ Oscar-winning documentary “Citizenfour” was the technical, unflinching, nonfiction version of Edward Snowden’s explosive NSA leaks, Stone’s film is most definitely the Hollywood version.
Both Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton have been harshly critical of the former Central Intelligence Agency contractor.
Snowden isn’t receiving money from Stone’s film, according to Wizner (although Snowden has received money on the lecture circuit).
The information Snowden helped make public exposed the NSA’s PRISM surveillance program and revealed the agency’s secret mass collection of data from major internet and cell phone companies to monitor millions of Americans.
Earlier this week Snowden laid out his case for a presidential pardon, saying, “I think when people look at the calculations of benefit, it is clear in the wake of 2013 the laws of our nation changed”.
‘But. I’m incredibly grateful and fortunate to be able to experience the support of the world’s three leading human rights organizations’.
The US House Intelligence Committee has released a report following a two-year-long investigation of Edward Snowden’s leak of US secret documents, after fleeing the country for Hong Kong and then finding safe haven in the Russian Federation.
“Contrary to his public claims that he notified numerous NSA [National Security Agency] officials about what he believed to be illegal intelligence collection, the Committee found no evidence that Snowden took any official effort to express concerns about USA intelligence activities – legal, moral or otherwise – to any oversight officials in the U.S. government, despite numerous avenues for him to do so”, said the report.
The report also indicated that the vast majority of the documents he stole were defense secrets that had nothing to do with privacy.
“His conduct put American lives at risk and it risked American national security”, he told reporters.
‘What we’re hoping is that after the election when Obama is in his final months in office – at that stage he can begin to do something that are appropriate as a matter of conscience but politically hard, ‘ Roth said.
Many are interested to know Edward Snowden’s net worth.

I was excited to see this film, and despite all his conspiracy theorist glory, I like Oliver Stone and his films; and I like Joseph Gordon-Levitt; I’m even in the basket of people who consider Snowden a hero who should be pardoned and allowed to return home; heck, I even like Peter Gabriel; but, given the extensive prior coverage of this man and this subject, this movie is simply irrelevant and tiresome – but maybe that’s what the government wants us to think.
