A San Bernardino shooting identified as Syed Farook

Police searched people filing out of a building with their hands up before they reunited with loved ones.

Terry Petit said he got a text from his daughter saying she was hiding after gunfire erupted at the social services facility where she works. “We have not ruled out terrorism”. The San Bernardino location has three buildings, including a conference center, where the initial shootings occurred.

Police spokeswoman Sgt. Vicki Cervantes said witnesses initially reported seeing one to three gunmen.

“There are some steps that we could take, not to eliminate all incidents, but to make sure they happen less frequently”.

A man carrying the same name is listed as residing at an apartment complex where the suspects of Wednesday’s shooting were tracked by police.

A law enforcement official has identified Syed Farook as one of the suspects.

It is unclear if Syed Farook was the man killed. There, the man and his accomplice were spotted driving past in their SUV. Jerad was killed by police; Amanda committed suicide after being wounded.

A press conference has just taken place and another expected in a few hours.

Sandy Bonilla, a director at the Urban Conservation Corps of the Inland Empire, a charter school a block from the shooting, said it was on lockdown and the area looked like a battle zone.

The San Bernardino police chief agreed with Bowditch’s assessment. “They came in [to the centre] with a goal, they came in with an intent”. A possible explosive device has also been found and has been preventively detonated by a robot with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

A dispute at the party may have sparked the shooting, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Burguan told reporters the attackers “came prepared to do what they did, as if they were on a mission”.

NBC News said another of the suspects was believed to be Farook’s brother.

According to police, there are confirmed casualties.

Gunfire exchanged between the suspected gunmen and responding officers left all windows of the black SUV completely shot out.

They said the suspects wore “assault-style” clothing and were armed with assault rifles in the attack, which lasted for “several minutes” at the Inland Regional Center, a facility for people with disabilities.
