A shot at redemption? Brazil to play Germany in Olympic football final
Despite boasting a combined nine World Cup wins, neither country has won Olympic gold as a unified nation.

Brazil advances to the Gold Medal Match where it will face the victor of Nigeria vs. Germany on Saturday, Aug. 20 at 4:30 p.m. ET.
The goal is the fastest in Olympic history, beating the goal scored by Canada’s Janine Beckie in the group stage of the 2016 Olympic women’s tournament that had set the record.
Brazil, who had booked their place in the semi-finals with a 2-0 win over Colombia in the last round, got their last four-clash at the Maracanã off to a ideal start after Neymar netted after just 15 seconds.
After Wednesday’s win, Brazil has outscored its Olympic opponents 12-0.
It was one of Brazil’s easiest days at the office as they dispatched Honduras with ruthless aggression at the Maracana.
Honduras defender Johnny Palacios had the ball under control at the top of the penalty area but gave it away as Neymar closed in quickly, and the striker took advantage to get on the board.
For a moment, Neymar’s bravery looked like it may have come at a cost as he had to be stretchered off after being winded in the challenge.
Brazil now awaits the victor of Germany vs. Nigeria, while Honduras will face the loser of that game for the bronze medal.
Gabriel Jesus was getting some serious love, too. Gabriel Jesus doubled the hosts’ lead in the 26th minute, and then notched his brace in the 35th minute.
The 19-year-old, who moved to City from Palmeiras in a deal worth £27million in early August, made it 2-0 with his shot with the outside of his right boot in the 25th minute before Neymar once again linked up with Jesus for the third just 10 minutes later.

There was no letup in the second half for a Honduras side that defensively was a shadow of the side that held South Korea at bay. Six minutes after the interval, Honduras allowed a Neymar corner to fall right for Marquinhos six yards from goal. And there was still time for more suffering for Hondura.
