Surveillance video provided by the Washington State Patrol shows the suspect in a shooting rampage at the Cascade Mall. The suspect is a 20-year-old Turkish man who is a legal permanent resident of the U.S.
“We’re going to be a stronger Skagit County”, Burlington Mayor Miro Weinberger told reporters Saturday.
Authorities said that a rifle was found at the scene of the shooting.

A gunman who fatally shot five people at a Washington state mall remained at large as authorities said the motive for the slaying was unknown but there was no indication the shootings were a terrorist act.
YouTube users posted lewd comments on that page and Cetin’s Twitter page in response to the mall shooting.
He earlier said that that a suspect described as Hispanic was last seen walking towards Interstate 5 from the mall. According to the arrest record at “Jail Alert”, he was arrested in July by the Island County Sheriff’s Office.
The suspect’s arrest capped a frantic search following the slayings of five people the day before. “And then I heard a lady yelling for help, and a man came and got me and another lady, and we ran out of the store”, Caswell told the newspaper.
Authorities say 20-year-old Arcan Cetin immigrated to the USA from Turkey. He was taken into custody without incident about 6:30 p.m.
Lt. Cammock said Cetin “had been arrested in our county for a simple assault” in the past, without elaborating on the case. He would not go into details about the ownership of the rifle Cetin allegedly used to carry out the shooting. Hawley described the suspect as being “kind of zombie-like” during his arrest as he froze and did not try to flee the scene. The description, including that he appeared to be Hispanic, was based on statements from witnesses, said Given Kutz, a spokesman for the Skagit County Emergency Operations Center.
The motive for the attack is unknown, but the Federal Bureau of Investigation said there was no evidence pointing to terrorism.
“It’s too scary. It’s too close to home”, said Maria Elena Vasquez, who attended the gathering with her husband and two young children.
The authorities initially said four females were killed and one male suffered life-threatening injuries.
The identity of the final victim, a male who died at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, was reported The Seattle Times to be Chuck Eagan.
The Seattle Times identified one of the victims as a 16-year-old girl.
Her sister, Evangelina Lara, told The Seattle Times the teenager had been pronounced dead by police at 2am on Saturday.
Stephanie Bose, an assistant general manager at Johnny Carino’s Italian restaurant near the Macy’s store at the mall, said she immediately locked the doors after hearing about the shooting from an employee’s boyfriend.
