A terrifying ‘It’ trailer will give you nightmares

Played by Bill Skarsgard (Hemlock Grove), Pennywise now looks more evil and subtly monstrous, with features and clothing that appear to be slightly decaying, and a physique that doesn’t quite seem normal.

“It” will be split into two movies, with the first movie being set to be released in the US on September 8. Now there’s a trailer for the new adaptation, and it’ll definitely give you the shivers.

The cast includes Jaeden Lieberher from “Midnight Special” and Finn Wolfhard from “Stranger Things” alongside Jeremy Ray Taylor, Sophia Lillis, Wyatt Oleff, Chosen Jacobs, Jack Dylan Grazer and Nicholas Hamilton. Tim Curry was pant-wettingly scary, just seeing him is enough to induce nightmares. Hardcore Stephen King fans out there should be pleased with the filmmaker’s attention to detail, in some cases down to the very letter, of the horror icon’s acclaimed work.

Director Andrés Muschietti is making two films, echoing the two parts of King’s original story.

Check out the poster and trailer tease below. It’s also not long before they’ll start encountering Pennywise for themselves… and when a projector starts to go haywire, they’re obviously completely freaked out by images of the killer clown.

Muschietti tells USA Today that innocence lost is one of the major themes in “It”.

Then we get another look at Pennywise (Bill Skarsgård) holding his favourite party favour.

It’s CinemaCon panel may or may not shed more light on how they will adapt the second half of King’s novel, where the children have to battle Pennywise again as adults. And while the clown is a crucial element, the kids and their relationships are arguably twice as important – if that stuff doesn’t work, nothing will, and judging by this trailer, that stuff totally works. And mind you, I have plenty of respect for those who are scared of clowns.
