A Tribe Called Quest’s Phife Dawg left an indelible imprint on the world of hip hop, so fans from all over the globe were shaken up when he died unexpectedly this past March.

According to L.A. Reid, A Tribe Called Quest recorded a new album before the group lost Phife. “Dot” Miller that he’s excited about new Tribe music coming soon.

“You know what I’m excited about though?” he said.

“I’m really happy about it, man, it’s really something special”, Reid said. Now, they might be able to find solace in the fact that he managed to record a new album with his legendary group before his untimely death. We didn’t hang out and take pictures and act Hollywood.

This will be the group’s first project released since 1998 project The Love Movement. And Phife is there. Reid also revealed that the album will include all four Tribe members that appeared on the group’s debut album, People’s Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm, including Jarobi White, who hasn’t appeared on any of their LPs since. The whole hip-hop community came together to mourn the death of this founding father, but it seems we still haven’t heard the last of Phife Dawg’s cheeky street raps, or Q-Tip’s philosophical waxings or Ali Shaheed Muhammad’s production.
