A window into Ben Carson’s visits with Syrian refugees in Jordan
“When I looked at the refugee camps in Jordan, there’s about a $3 billion shortfall annually”, Carson remarked. They have complained that they are carrying an unfair burden while the global communitys support has fallen short. An aid appeal of $4.5 billion for refugees in host countries in 2015 is only about half funded. “It’s really quite impressive when you go over there and see it”, Carson added, noting the some parts of the camps even had schools, electricity, and indoor plumbing. Would it be better to integrate them into society?

“The people I talked to don’t want to stay there”, Raddatz insisted. “But you have to make progress as you go”. But first, your reaction to what happened in Colorado Springs. He suggested that if we “get rid of the rhetoric from either side and actually talk about the facts” it would be easier to prevent other similar tragedies from happening elsewhere. “We should think about things like that”. After the visit, the convoy headed to the Zaatari refugee camp. Some 4 million Syrians have fled and most have wound up in Turkey, Lebanon or Jordan with hopes of migrating to northern Europe or other prosperous countries.
There are not almost as many as they had planned for.
“They’ve taken in millions of people”, Carson also said of Jordan.
Overall, the retired neurosurgeon came away with the sense that refugee life in Jordan wasn’t so bad. They don’t have enough money.
“If it’s someone that you know nothing about – they’re presenting you documents that may or may not truly be them, there’s no database to compare them off of, that’s a different story and that’s the point that I’ve made”.
Carson argued on Sunday that the refugees wanted to be resettled in Syria.
BRIANNA: I want to ask you about something were hearing from Tennessee. “That’s how we solve problems”. That doesn’t make a lot of sense. Good morning, Dr. Carson. That’s what various polls are showing, various q polls. “Participation in Halloween customs may seem innocent fun for children and adults, but it is one more way Satan can use to deceive people into thinking there is no harm in playing a little bit with the world of spirits and demons”.
Colyer’s decision to join Carson on his Middle East trip could be a sign that he will back Carson in the Kansas Republican caucuses in March. It really isn’t about me. Is that going to be easier from a neighboring country or from the United States? “Are you talking about a national fundraising drive?” “Do we want to give them what they need, or do we want to continue playing around?”
Speaking from Amman, Jordan, after visiting Syrian refugees this weekend with his wife Candy, Carson said that refugees he spoke to want to be repatriated back into their homeland.
“By the same token, we have to have in place screening mechanisms that allow us to determine who the mad dogs are, quite frankly”, he said. And all you need is the resources to be able to run them.

He continued: “Until it is safe for them to return home, Jordan is a safe place for them to wait”.
