AAP lawmaker Somnath Bharti arrested
A case against Bharti and his supporters was registered earlier this month at the Hauz Khas police station in the national capital. The incident took place on September 9 when Bharti and his men allegedly injured six security guards of AIIMS.

MLA Somnath Bharti was on Thursday arrested by the Delhi police for allegedly assaulting security guards at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).
The chief security officer (CSO) of AIIMS lodged the complaint against Bharti, alleging that he misbehaved with security personnel and damaged government property on September 9.
Bharti and his supporters had been booked under Sections 147 (rioting), 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapons), 186 (obstructing public servant), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act. Bharti had rejected all the allegations earlier.
Mr Bharti has called the charges false and has said that AIIMS had denied “legitimate access” to people. AIIMS even refused to (go to) PWD meetings.
In December, Bharti had also been arrested in connection with an attempt to murder and domestic violence case filed by his wife.
Somnath Bharti is AAP’s MLA from Delhi’s Malviya Nagar.
But this is not the first time the former Delhi Law Minister has fallen afoul of the law.

A year ago in September, displeased by charges against him, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had said that Bharti had become an embarrassment to AAP.
