Aaron Rodgers has been throwing interceptions in training camp, nearly by design

Mike McCarthy thinks more coaches will try two-point conversions this season, but it doesn’t sound like the Green Bay Packers coach will be one of them. “Because I’ll be involved in different conversations than I’ve been in the past because frankly when the defense has the ball, you’re watching the game but you’re really listening and talking about all the adjustments that are being made on offense”.

Tracking quarterback interceptions during training camp is one of the most frivolous plots this time of year.

Tolzien, who was an undrafted free agent in 2011 and spent three seasons with the Chargers and 49ers from 2011-2013, now has the chance to go out and earn a contract as either the Packers long-term backup or a starter elsewhere as so many recent Packers backups have gone on to do. The throw down the middle came with rookie cornerback LaDarius Gunter running alongside Janis, and the ball hung up just enough for Gunter to catch up to him.

Receiver Jordy Nelson isn’t anxious about the training camp turnovers.

What type of throws is he making?

No quarterback in NFL history has thrown interceptions at a less frequent rate than Rodgers, who enters the 2015 season having thrown 226 touchdowns against 57 interceptions and with an interception rate of 1.6 percent.

Added Rodgers: “I threw five last year in the regular season, so I know how to play in those games”.

Rodgers has a career 249-64 TD-INT ratio in the regular season and playoffs combined. Because he is trying his best to test his receivers before the passes begin to matter once the regular season rolls around.

“He’s shown through the years that he will take care of the ball come in-season”, Nelson said. “We’ve got to do a better job of catching the over-the-top balls, whether they’re out in front of us a little or slightly behind us”.

“That’s what camp is all about, sorting those things out”, Rodgers said via the Packers’ official website.

I suppose when you have Aaron Rodgers as the head honcho of things and the ability to learn quickly, anything is possible. You have to show it in practice in order for me to feel comfortable making those throws in the games. Clay Matthews, Nick Perry, Mike Neal, and Adrian Hubbard were all out on Thursday, so we will be eagerly awaiting news of one or more of those players returning to the field.
