Singapore said Tuesday it is investigating the severity of its locally transmitted Zika virus, amid a rising number of cases.

Releasing Wolbachia-infected male mosquitoes so eggs from females they mate with do not hatch is also “not a silver bullet”, he added.
Since January, several other Zika cases have been recorded in the country.
On tackling the spread of Zika virus, Zulkifli said over 200 mosquito breeding habitats have been destroyed during inspections by National Environment Agency since the first locally-transmitted Zika case was reported on August 27.
Mr Ng said the state has initiated measures to curb the breeding of Aedes mosquitoes, which spreads the both the Zika and the more risky dengue viruses, and called on all to help eradicate the vectors.
Zika virus, according to studies, produces hardened calcium deposits in the brain and can lead to swelling and later breaking down of some tissues. Most government are proactive with their response and it is very helpful to control the spreading of Zika virus.
The Zika virus is known to spread through mosquito bites, sexual transmission and blood transfusions. Zika has been detected in blood, urine, semen, saliva and breast milk.
Since the Zika outbreak began in Brazil in 2015, thousands of babies in that country have been born with a devastating birth defect known as microcephaly, which results in abnormally small heads and brains.
All three patients, none of whom were pregnant, have since recovered they did not require hospitalization and were told to stay at home. The son kissed and hugged his dying father and helped care for him in a hospital but didn’t travel to an affected area or have sex with anyone who did.
Utah health officials said the investigation will remain active.
“We don’t know if there may have been some unrecognized contact with mucous membranes, or whether it was just bad luck that he came in contact with infected fluid”, Kallen said.

Because the father had such a high level of the virus in his body – one of the highest scientists have seen – it’s also likely that the virus showed up in more places in his body, increasing the risk of transmission.
