For the world’s 1.6 billion Muslims, Ramadan involves fasting, which is one of he Five Pillars of the religion of Islam and one of the highest forms of Islamic worship.

There are nearly three million Muslims in the United Kingdom, and they’ve been observing the holy month of Ramadan which started at midnight on Monday June 6.

The holy month of Ramadan is coming to an end, and Muslims in Huddersfield will be preparing for Eid celebrations.

The reason that the dates change every year is because Islam follows a lunar calendar.

Why does the date of Eid change each year?

After collecting all the evidences of moon-sighting from different corners of the country, a formal announcement is expected around 09:00 pm, the report said.

The festival has no connection with any historical event but is a day where Muslims thank Allah for the strength, the will and the endurance he gives them, especially during Ramadan.

Last year, a record-breaking 60,000 Muslims turned up in a Birmingham park to celebrate the end of Ramadan.

Republic Act No. 9177 declares Eid’l Fitr as a regular holiday throughout the country.

Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset and also abstain from smoking and sex during daylight hours throughout Ramadan.

Eid ul-Fitr is a 5-day weekend in regions of Pakistan and Oman, which will start from July 5.

“The formation of the new moon does not indicate the beginning of the Shawwal month, as that depends on the sighting of the moon”.

According to authorities, Eid prayers will be held at almost 300 mosques around the country at 5:03am on Wednesday, which is the first day of Shawwal.
