Absentee voting begins in MN this week
The Student Government Association has partnered with numerous registered organizations across campus including the U of M College Democrats, Student Activities Council as well as fraternities and sororities to host debate watch parties and voter registration tables.

I’m still not clear why polling suggests that this vote is so close. It’s better to register before the October 11 “deadline” for traditional registration, but you can still register after that, and on Election Day, Nov. 8.
First, as you know, towns are receiving ballots at different times. It requires communities to let residents vote during a 10-day window immediately before Election Day during biennial statewide elections.
Hours for election night will be from 7 a.m.to 7 p.m. and any registered voter who is line to vote at 7 p.m. will be able to vote for the election.
Meanwhile Matt Roberts, a spokesman for the Arizona Secretary of State, questioned why Democrats were raising concerns over the voter registration deadline now, since the deadline was announced last February. “I think these groups really want people to register to vote or to vote absentee…they’re just not doing it well”. “Doing so may help things go smoother on Election Day since many polling places are located in schools”. In some places, it may still cause confusion – or even resistance.
If you do not have one of the above forms of ID, the State of Georgia offers a free Voter Identification Card.
We have stark choices in this election, but some of us won’t be making choices because we won’t be prepared to vote on November 8.
“We’re expecting anywhere from 35 to 40 percent of our voters to vote absentee prior to November 8”, McCabe said.
There are two voter registration drives remaining at two Aiken County public library branches for interested voters to register.
Voters can continue to request an absentee ballot until noon Saturday, Nov. 5. Anyone who sees or hears of any attempted vote fraud should contact the Attorney General’s Office at 410-576-6300 or 1-888-743-0023 toll free in Maryland or via TDD at 410-576-6372.
An early vote is your final vote.
►Voters who will be outside the county on Election Day. Convicted felons must have had their civil or voting rights restored in order to register and vote.
“People like the idea of getting ahead of the game and getting in here earlier”.
This is the first presidential-election year where Minnesotans no longer need an excuse to vote absentee, a reform also known as no-excuses absentee voting.

“We’re pushing 8,000 absentee applications, which is nearly double what we did four years ago, and eight years ago”, said Mahoning County Board of Elections Deputy Director Tom McCabe.
