A 9-year-old boy who was fatally shot in Chicago on Monday was lured into an alley and murdered in what is believed to have been a “targeted” shooting, Chicago Police Supt.

Tyshawn was shot several times in the upper body, including in the head and back, in an alleyway in Chicago’s Auburn Gresham neighborhood this past Monday around 4:15 p.m., police said. He added that the killing was the most recent turn in a rise in gang violence on Chicago’s South Side that started around August. They offered a $35,000 award.
Guglielmi said he knows the gangs involved but, “We need more people to come forward”. Police say Stokes is not cooperating with authorities.
The child’s father, though, says claims that his son was killed in a gang retaliation are untrue.
Officials believe the murder was part of an ongoing, bloody conflict involving two of Chicago’s oldest rival gangs, the Gangster Disciples and the Black P Stones, according to News One.
“Tyshawn Lee was murdered in probably the most abhorrent, cowardly, unfathomable crime that I’ve witnessed in 35 years of policing”, Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy told reporters Thursday, according to CNN. “I hope they never see daylight…when you do what you’ve done to a 9-year-old, there’s a place for you, and there’s no humanity in that place”. “It’s crushing me, I can barely breathe at times when I think about it”, Stokes said earlier this week. Police said they’ve been canvassing the neighborhood and looking through surveillance video to help catch his killer.
“We don’t want those individuals to know what we know”, he told reporters. “They’re not asking me questions that I know. Worry about the killer”. Tyshawn’s father, however, denies being affiliated with any gang.

A few are stepping up and offering a safe haven to those who might have information about the shooting death of 9-year-old Tyshawn Lee, including St. Sabina Church’s Father Michael Pfleger. Pfleger said someone from outside Illinois has already called to offer help relocating anyone who has information in Lee’s murder. “A baby was executed”, Pfleger told Tthe Associated Press. And proving who did what is where we are right now. “We have gone to a new low that’s removed what used to be some codes, some barriers, some lines that used to be drawn in the community, some things in our city that were not acceptable”.
