Swofford said domestic violence, in particular, is an issue that has been discussed among the conference’s school presidents and should be addressed “head-on”, but he said there are no plans for the league to take a more active role. “A medical observer should be able to, in talking to the sidelines, have a timeout called or get a player out of the game… but we’ll see how it all works in real time”.

Swofford’s comments came during his annual preseason forum covering a range of topics.

Swofford additionally says there stays no timetable on the league probably creating its personal TV channel.

“We as a conference are not trying to be big brother in that aspect”, Swofford said.

“It’s great to represent Clemson; I’m truly honored”, Mac Lain said, adding, “I know Deshaun (Watson) didn’t want to talk about himself, so they sent me instead”. “We have to retain the fundamentals and the collegiate model combining education and athletics, and quite frankly, I think we’ve waited too long to make some necessary adjustments”.

Swofford followed by complimenting the four-team format, and said he believes the current playoff structure will remain the same for the rest of its 12-year contract, according to Ellis. Speaking at the ACC Football Kickoff in North Carolina Monday, Swofford voiced his support for the expansion of the College Football Playoff, now limited to four teams.
