There’s plenty blame to go around as Georgia Tech (2-4, 0-3 Atlantic Coast Conference) prepares to host Pittsburgh (4-1, 2-0 ACC) on Saturday. 23 Northwestern, and a win at home against Georgia Tech. The Tigers defense played incredible. This win was very important for the Tigers as they attempt to position themselves for the ACC tournament. “My team really needed it. I had to make the most of my opportunity”. Syracuse gave up over 500 yards of total offense. The Orangemen got freshman quarterback Eric Dungey back, but it wasn’t enough. After two October games, Miami is 0-2, losing to Cincinnati 34-23 and FSU 29-24. The Hurricanes had a chance to win the game, but failed on downs. The sophomore stud finished with 222 rushing yards and would have had much more if not for a hamstring issue. Swimmers Moises Loschi, Yuval Safra, Brian Woodbury and Efrat Rotsztejn as well as diver Omar Eteiba also earned victories at the meet. If it wasn’t for Brad Kaaya this game wouldn’t have been close. Galambos ended the threat by perfectly jumping a route, intercepting the pass and returning for 51 yards to set up what proved to be the decisive Pitt touchdown. He looked very impressive, but once again Miami lost another tough matchup.
Clemson has steadily risen in the rankings this season and looks to keep that momentum going.
Even the Yellow Jackets’ returning players aren’t quite up to the level they reached last season. With less than two minutes to play, QB Jacoby Brissett was intercepted for the first time this season. Hokie nation was starting to question Frank Beamer and the direction of this program.
Tech fans will be pleased to know that bowl projectors – three of them, at any rate – believe the Yellow Jackets will turn their season around. Both matches will be televised beginning with Friday’s Clemson match at 7 p.m. on ESPN3 and concluding with Sunday’s Georgia Tech contest on the ACC Regional Sport Networks.
Following a 1-1 outcome at home, Georgia Tech heads to Pittsburgh before facing Virginia Tech on the ACC Regional Sport Networks. Johnson’s triple-option offense is hard for a few defenses to decipher, but it also requires precision blocking and backs with experience and vision. Georgia Tech is in a whole lot of trouble.
Miami has never played in an ACC championship game for football.
