Accident snarls traffic on Cape Cod bridge during rush hour

The entire span was closed just after 6:30 a.m. when two vehicles collided, including one carrying cranberries that spilled across the bridge.

A head-on collision closed the Sagamore Bridge in both directions, and has caused a truckload of cranberries to spill onto the Cape Cod roadway.

Police advise motorists to seek an alternate route. The road has reopened according to the Massachusetts State Police.

All lanes have now been opened on the Sagamore Bridge.

State Police said on its official Twitter account that it was one person was taken to Rhode Island Hospital with serious injuries. A second had minor injuries and refused transport. They say this crash happened on Cranberry Highway near the Stop and Shop gas station.
