In the women’s vault final, Dipa’s average score was 15.066 from her two vaults of Tsukahara-720 and Prudonova where she logged 14.866 and 15.266 respectively to finish fourth behind Switzerland’s Giulia Steingruber who logged 15.216.
Indian gymnast Dipa Karmakar and shooter Jitu Rai are in contention to receive India’s highest sporting honor, the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, according to a report in an English news channel.
“They can do easier vaults and execute it better because: better infrastructure, better training, better everything”. She scored 15.066 and missed out on the bronze medal by a whisker. “Life is not worth any medal, for any damned country”. She has sought help from the External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj in the matter.
Rajasthan police registered a case against Twitter accounts of three unknown persons under Sections 66 D (Punishment for cheating by personation by using computer resource) and 67 (Punishment for publishing or transmitting obscene material in electronic form) of the IT act, police said, adding they were trying to trace the accused.
This tweet ignited a social media outrage against her as people reportedly abused and threatened her. According to the girl she had also received death and rape threats from several people. Kunwar Rastradeep, DCP (East) told TOI: “After speaking to her we have lodged a case and are investigating the matter”.

“We are in the process of obtaining some IP addresses and are writing to Twitter seeking information about certain handles”. Sadly, in the initial stages of questioning, the police questioned the woman, a journalist, instead of helping her.
