Berhampur: Cracking the Gangapur acid attack case involving a minor girl within 24 hours of its occurrence, Badagada Police have arrested two accused so far. Sunday, the police had arrested Lipun Bisoi (19) from the same village. She has sustained around 50 percent burn wounds on her body including her face, mid-section and hands. However, she could not recognise the other accused. At least four persons attacked the girl and threw acid at her Saturday midnight after entering her house. Her condition is stated to be critical, reports said.

Quoting her parents, police said the victim had received threat calls from unknown persons some days back, but they did not inform the police about it.
“We have identified the other accused persons”.
Police said the exact cause of the attack was not known.
According to the victim, she was in love with one of her fellow villagers namely Tofan, who was willing to marry her.
This infuriated her family members who threatened Toffan to stop stalking the girl.

The 17-year-old girl was admitted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital here in a critical condition after the incident took place last night, the official said. The assailants faded away before the victim’s family members could do anything.
