Activision Blizzard revenue, profit beat as ‘Call of Duty’ delivers
That amounted to earnings per share of 13 cents, besting analysts’ predictions by 5 cents a share, according to reports. The company has a market cap of $18,532 million and the number of outstanding shares have been calculated to be 726,186,000 shares. The 50-day moving average is $25.38 and the 200 day moving average is recorded at $23.74. Equities research analysts expect that Activision Blizzard, Inc. will post $1.24 earnings per share for the current year. But new numbers released today as part of Activision’s second quarter 2015 financial results may explain why the developer is rushing into what’s next.

For the third quarter, Activision expects adjusted earnings of $0.14 per share on adjusted revenues of $930 million. While monthly active users for Blizzard Entertainment’s popular title “World of Warcraft” were up by 50 percent year-over-year, it lost another 1.5 million subscribers in Q2 alone. That is higher on the top line than the average $866 million estimate, and in line with consensus for profit of 14 cents.
Activision Blizzard (ATVI – Get Report) stock is gaining by 5.96% to $27.20 in after-hours trading on Tuesday, after the company reported better than expected earnings results for the 2015 second quarter. At the end of March, the company reported 7.1 million subscribers, which was a big drop from the 10 million players subscribed just prior to the launch of the latest expansion, Warlords of Draenor, in November past year. The shares have underperformed the S&P 500 by 2.62% during the past week but Activision Blizzard, Inc (NASDAQ:ATVI) has outperformed the index in 4 weeks by 3.36%. The 52-week high of Activision Blizzard, Inc (ATVI:NASDAQ) is $26.45 and the 52-week low is $17.725. (NASDAQ:ATVI) traded up 0.59% during midday trading on Tuesday, reaching $25.67. The stock has a consensus analyst price target of $28.69.

Activision, like other video-game companies, has been diversifying beyond traditional game console discs in favor of monthly subscriptions and in-game purchases. It distributes interactive entertainment hardware and software products in NBG in Germany and Europe through its distribution subsidiaries that are European: Centresoft in the United Kingdom.
