Law & Order star Chris Noth has lost his mother, PEOPLE has learned. She relocated to NY, where she was a weather reporter and, eventually, a news correspondent for the local CBS affiliate. She was promoted to correspondent and reported for CBS throughout the ’60s and ’70s. And she wanted those same qualities for her children. “She lived long and died surrounded by those she loved and who loved her”.

Parr continued her career at CBS throughout the 60s, reporting on the Republican National Convention in San Francisco as well as the Newark/New York riots in 1967.

After her time on TV, she produced several documentaries.

She holds the distinction of being one of only a few people who appeared as both a contestant and a panelist on the TV game show “What’s My Line?“.

Did “The Good Wife” set itself up for the worst series finale ever?

The journalist is survived by her three sons, Charles Jr., Chris and Michael Noth.
