Actor Danny Trejo speaks up for Sylmar High students at safety meeting
A massive brawl that involved 40 students broke out at Los Angeles’s Sylmar High School on Monday, believed to have been a result of flaring tensions that started at the school’s prom over the previous weekend. I mean, I couldn’t even come to school today.

The Mexican-American actor attended a public safety meeting at Sylmar High School in San Fernando Valley where students and school officials tried to figure out the root of the violence that erupted on Monday.
Some say the fight at the majority Latino school was racially charged. Students and parents were upset that they would not be allowed to speak at the meeting, but the administrators eventually yielded the mic to them following Trejo’s speech. Los Angeles police are also investigating the fights.
“As the head of the most diverse school district in the nation, let me be very clear: We will not tolerate targeting or violence of any kind on our campuses”, Los Angeles Unified School District Superintendent Michelle King said in a statement. It seems like a truly terrifying experience as fights ignite, end and then restart just as quickly as they ended.
But when it seemed that students weren’t being given the opportunity to voice their concerns, Trejo stood up and insisted that officials give them the floor, according to the Times.
Police were called to Sowerby High School on Wednesday May 4, around 3.15pm following reports of a fight outside the school in Albert Road between a pupils aged between 14 and 16-years-old. “So, good things can really happen when we get together”.
“I don’t feel safe at school”, one student said during the board meeting.

After the fight, principle James Lee sent out a letter to parents to inform them of the brawl and to ensure them that the students involved in the fight will face disciplinary action.
