Actor Randy Quaid ordered released; facing removal from Canada next week

He says he was detained by Canada Border Services on Tuesday, October 6, 2015.

Immigration and Refugee Board spokesman Robert Gervais said Quaid would have a detention review hearing on Thursday. Evi confirmed their arrest on Twitter, hours after denouncing the country and the citizenship she received in 2010.

In the profanity-filled footage Evgenia, known as Evi, attacks Barack Obama, John Kerry, and the Santa Barbara State Department, accusing them of fraudulently taking her passport.

“RANDY QUAID ILLEGALLY ARRESTED TODAY”, she wrote. It turned out that he was living in Montreal, which led to his arrest in April of this year.

So, um, apparently Randy Quaid just really doesn’t enjoy the Immigration and Refugee Board.

The pair were accused of vandalism and residential burglary – both felonies – after being found in the property’s guest house, where they allegedly caused thousands of dollars worth of damage. Quaid’s lawyer, Mark Gruszczynski, refused to give a comment regarding Quaid’s circumstance or any information surrounding the arrest. I probably will get arrested for all that (in California). “I’m perfectly willing to face all that stuff”, Quaid told The Associated Press.

But that fear was rejected by the board member and Quaid was ordered released.

The couple said they expect Canadian officials will try to deport Quaid, but that they would prefer to voluntarily leave and re-apply for permanent residency from overseas. “I would like to have the issues in Santa Barbara resolved so I can move on with my life”.

The whole unusual saga of the Quaids and Canada began in 2010, when Randy and Evi sought refugee status with our polite northern neighbors after being charged with squatting in a California home.

He said the couple’s behavior, statements and videos they’ve posted to social media, including a sex tape, are an act and a way of expressing themselves. The couple claimed that they were being hunted down by a shadowy organization called “Hollywood Star Whackers”, the same group that was, according to them, responsible for the death of Heath Ledger and David Carradine, among other actors whom Randy co-starred with in films.
