The actor-politician Ramya aka Divya Spandana, 33 was charged with sedition for appreciating Pakistan after her visit to the country for SAARC event. People there are just like us. “They treated us very well”, reports NDTV. Her comments have landed her in hot water as K Vittal Gowda, a lawyer, lodged a private complaint under Section 200 of Cr.Pc in the first JMFC court in Somwarpet against Ramya for praising Pakistan, accusing her of being “anti-national”.
Hearing of the case will be conducted on August 17 this year.
On Ramya statement on Pakistan her colleague Jaggesh has said she is inexperienced and not learnt anything to make such statement.
Referring to Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar’s remark that ‘going to Pakistan is hell, ‘ the Kannada actress said, “Pakistan is not hell”. If you praise/defend or say literally anything about Pakistan, someone, somewhere will get offended.
A former Lok Sabha MP, Ramya represented the constituency of Mandya from 2013 to 2014.
