Actual Battery Flaw Prompted Samsung to Recall the Galaxy Note 7
A battery limit isn’t the most high-tech fix, and it’s undefined if that is adequate solution to actually avoid explosion issues totally but Samsung can’t afford to be steadfast by continuous stories of its flagship phones hurting users. Consumers have to visit Samsung service centers or retailers twice – once to get a replacement phone – not a Galaxy Note 7 – and have a safety check of their existing Note 7, and a second time to get a new Note 7. Consequently, Samsung has voluntarily chose to limit the device’s charging potential to 60% via an upcoming OTA update.

A Samsung spokeswoman said it had not decided whether to do similar software upgrades in markets other than in South Korea.
It’s unclear when the update will be pushed out to phones in other countries apart from South Korea.
In a half-page advert carried by major South Korean newspapers on Wednesday, Samsung announced a Note 7 software update that will limit battery recharges to 60% of capacity.
In the US, the company is working with the Consumer Product Safety Commission to figure out how a formal recall of the phones will work. The company is mulling to offer cash token of about $25 or cash equivalent for customers who are replacing the phone with new one instead of collecting refund.
“We ate the pizza among a few of us”, Lee said by phone.
And different regulatory practices in different countries – as well as varying reactions from carriers – have caused a degree of customer uncertainty and confusion that is hampering Samsung’s efforts to get the recall behind it as quickly and painlessly as possible.
The statement noted that the newly launched iPhone 7 smartphone could provide a tempting alternative to disgruntled Samsung consumers, and said the Korean firm might be forced to increase marketing expenses to regain consumer confidence. Offices were closed in South Korea on Wednesday for the holiday.
Samsung “has to contain the battery explosions but people are not returning the phones”, said Peter Yu, an analyst at BNP Paribas.

“It means that the phone has not been optimized before the release”, Kim said. But that’s not the only thing Samsung is doing according to the latest reports.
