Adam Jones fined $28940 after making contact with an official

His actions hurt his team, and now they’ll hurt his bank account, as NFL Insider Ian Rapoport reported Friday that the NFL has handed Jones a $28,940 fine for unsportsmanlike conduct and making contact with a game official.

The players weren’t the only ones to receive discipline, however, as Steelers outside linebackers coach Joey Porter and offensive line coach Mike Munchak were fined $10,000 each, according to Rapoport.

Burfict was suspended for the first three games of next season this week as a result of repeated violations of player safety rules, including the hit on Brown. Porter was fined $10,000 for being on the field. Though coaches are typically not allowed on the field, Porter was believed to be showing concern for a player. Bengals defensive linemen Domata Peko and Wallace Gilberry were each fined $8,681 for unnecessary roughness as well. Munchak was fined for grabbing Reggie Nelson’s hair as he came on the sideline. Petko was fined for unnecessary roughness and Gilberry was fined for unsportsmanlike conduct.

In the Week 14 game between the Steelers and Bengals, Burfict attempted to hit Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger below the knee early in the game but thankfully that play ended without serious injury.

Bernard had established himself as a runner, which is why Shazier wasn’t flagged and likely why he wasn’t fined.

Last Saturday’s Bengals/Steelers wild card game got ugly fast in the fourth quarter, beginning with a vicious hit on defenseless receiver Antonio Brown from Cincinnati linebacker Vontaze Burfict that drew a 15-yard penalty.

Adam “Pacman” Jones swung his arms out at Porter and brushed a referee as the assistant coach was being pulled away by left tackle Alejandro Villanueva.
