Adam Warren traded to Cubs

Even with all that history, it still came down to a “split-second decision” for Zobrist when he got a phone call on Monday informing him the Cubs would be able to trade Starlin Castro to the New York Yankees, clear a spot at second base and sign a player they believe will help transform what can be an all-or-nothing lineup, a shaky defensive alignment and a chemistry experiment in the clubhouse. We’re trying to win every year and we’re trying to get younger and transition.

General Manager Brian Cashman filled in one of the Yankees’ biggest holes: a long-term answer at second base and a risky right handed bat.

Hearing his excitement when talking about winning a championship with the Cubs and Joe Maddon is awesome for the fan base.

“The first two games that I played there I felt a little bit weird”, Castro said.

Why?: The Only reason I don’t give another A+ is because they replaced Castro with a 35 Y/O tool player and only got Brendan Ryan rather then a Taylor Wade or a Kyle Holder. “I also think a lot more guys can do it if they just put their mind to it. And you’re seeing that across the game, really”. He’s confident that age won’t catch up to him as he replaces 3-time all-star Starlin Castro, who was simultaneously traded to the New York Yankees.

Castro is a. 281 lifetime hitter and did lead the National League in 2011 with 207 hits. 265 during the last three seasons as the Cubs shed veterans and restocked.

“That’s a tough moment, this guy’s an All-Star player that all of a sudden you take him and shift him during the middle of the season, he easily could have made a fuss about it. He did not make that fuss”. Warren posted a 3.29 ERA last season across 131.1 innings for the Yankees (43 appearances, 17 starts), and will provide the Cubs, at the very least, with depth in case anything were to happen to one of their starters. Now he comes to Chicago as the big-name free agent with a World Series-or-bust mentality. A person familiar with the negotiations says the contract is worth $56 million. “The evaluation comes down to the 130 games or more from the everyday position player”. He was a shortstop until moving to second base this past season to make room for prospect Addison Russell, and played well there.

With the deal, the Yankees have seven starting pitching options: Masahiro Tanaka, Luis Severino, CC Sabathia, Michael Pineda, Nathan Eovaldi, Ivan Nova and Bryan Mitchell. “We’ll talk about that more as time goes on, but I know Joe loves to move us around”. “We’re hopefully doing what we say and saying what we mean, meaning what we say – whatever”.
