Yesterday Google announced that your could give your Google apps some Star Wars themes by choosing either the Light Side or Dark Side. YouTube’s progress bars turn into lightsabers, Google Map markers becomes TIE Fighters or Millennium Falcons, Google Translate now includes alien languages, and Gmail showcases Star Wars-themed backgrounds.
Sign in to choose your side by sliding your profile picture left (Jedi) or right (Sith).
Coming on December 2 is a new virtual reality experience developed along with Google and Verizon.
When watching videos on YouTube, light or dark side lightsaber transforms your seeker bar, loading bar and volume control.

Simply choosing a side will completely change the themes for all of the company’s products including Android Wear, which comes with a new watch face. Once you’ve picked your preference, you’ll notice Google provides a link to several of its apps that support the new tool. The second rule is you don’t over to their house and drive by to see what they’re doing.
More goodies are on the way between now and the movie’s premiere, too, including a virtual reality experience for Google Cardboard and a Star Wars Chrome experiment.

Google is also tracking the “balance of the force”, and is encouraging users to engage each other with the #ChooseYourSide hashtag. Once you do pick a side, the Google services you use should have a little Star Wars flavor.
