Officials said restoration work on the hospital resumed Sunday, while the mobile urgent care centre in Fort McMurray now has an operating room, an anesthesiologist, an obstetrician and a general surgeon.

“In terms of the long-term recovery of the community, of individuals and their mental health, there are a variety of things that are going to have to happen”, she said Tuesday at the briefing.

“There was approximately 3mm of rain that was received on the western portion of the wildfire, in addition to 2mm of rain that was received on Saturday”.

Temple Hotels Inc (TPH.TO), which owns and operates 29 hotels, has almost one-third of its properties in Fort McMurray.

Minister of Municipal Affairs, Danielle Larivee, says that over the weekend parts of the wildfire did see some rain, but not almost enough.

“This fire is not under control by any means”, Morrison said in a news conference Tuesday, when asked if the oilsands are in the clear.

Provincial wildfire manager Chad Morrison said his team made the decision to order them up last week – around the time the fires swept to the edges of oilsands sites, forcing a mandatory evacuation of 19 facilities north of Fort McMurray. It has crossed into Saskatchewan.

Rain and cooler temperatures helped stave off the threat from the fire, which has already burned more than a million acres in Northern Alberta.

“We do have to go through a process of having it inspected and making sure that everything is good to go – assessing the site for damage”.

“We expect weeks, if not months, fighting this fire in the forested areas”.

Officials say about 1 000 additional fire crews from across Canada, South Africa and the United States will be joining the fight this week against a massive wildfire near Fort McMurray.

There are now 1,200 firefighters on scene, the majority of which are Alberta crews being rotated through.

RCMP said local officers were relieved of their duties when members from other parts of Alberta and Canada arrived. Next week, global crews, including 280 firefighters from South Africa are expected to arrive. “That’s why we’re investing in thousands of resources”.

“The phased re-entry for all oil sands camps in the regional municipality of Wood Buffalo is underway”, the provincial government announced. There were no remaining camps under evacuation order in Alberta.
