Adele and Beyonce to battle it out at MTV VMAs

Beyonce’s album Lemonade in April featured music videos for each track and was praised for its bold songs about betrayal and revenge. His controversial hit “Famous” (which infamously said “I made that b*tch famous” about Taylor) is up for two awards, Best Male Video and most importantly Video of the Year, against Drake, Adele, Justin Bieber and Beyonce.

Adele follows with eight nods, including seven for her “Hello”. Other stars with multiple nominations include Calvin Harris, Sia, Fifth Harmony, Ariana Grande, Rihanna, The Weeknd, Coldplay and Chris Brown.

Nominations for the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards are out, and the Shake It Off singer has failed to pick up a single one.

Adele also stacked the categories with her comeback ballad Hello, which will go up against Beyonce’s Formation in the Video of the Year category.

The late David Bowie could be awarded one of four VMAs posthumously, receiving nods for “Lazarus” in the Best Direction, Best Editing and Best Cinematography categories and a further nomination for “Blackstar” for the Best Art Direction.

By the way, in case you were interested, the VMAs’ big star this year is Beyonce, who received the most nominations – 11 – for her “Lemonade” visual album. Lil Wayne for “Let Me Love You”, “This Is What You Came For” by Calvin Harris ft.

MTV had a blank space and didn’t write Taylor Swift’s name, ouch! Drake for the short version of “Work”.

“So many artists are doing incredible things with multi-part music video series (like Beyoncé’s “Lemonade” and Justin Bieber’s “PURPOSE: The Movement”) that there’s now a whole new category for them”, MTV writer Sasha Geffen wrote.

The announcement of the MTV Video Music Awards 2016 nominations starts a month-long market blitz for the awards ceremony which will be held in the Madison Square Garden in New York City.
