Adele dethrones Taylor Swift on Vevo with ‘Hello’
Adele has overtaken Taylor Swift and broken the Vevo record for the most video views in 24 hours with her new single Hello.

Last week, her video for “Blank Space” became the most-viewed Vevo video of all time with more than 1.2 billion views.
The music promo, directed by Canadian filmmaker Xavier Dolan, came out on Friday.
However, at the height of her success and a successful live tour in 2011, Adele suffered a vocal chord haemorrhage and was forced to cancel shows in order to undergo rehabilitation and a micro laser surgery on her vocal chords. Before Swift, Miley Cyrus held the title with 19.6 million views for “Wrecking Ball“, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Kate Hudson and Katy Perry were just a few names on the long list of A-list celebrities raving about the first single off Adele’s forthcoming third studio album.
The Wall Street Journal also reported that during its first 48 hours, “Hello” was played one million times per hour, making it the biggest video debut of the year. The video was shot using IMAX cameras and also stars Tristan Wilds, known for appearing on The Wire. He understood where Adele was coming from with regards to her songs because most of his movies carried the same themes that Adele’s songs embodied, which were mostly about unrequited love. The BBC has been wonderful to me over the years, and Graham and I get on great, so it’s going to be a laugh.
Asked if she ever makes up the lyrics she said: ‘Yeah or I just pass the microphone to the audience and say, ‘Oh you sing it.’ Or I’ll stop and ask if I can start again. “It’s not as themed as my last record”.

The hustle has begun: Adele released 25’s first single, Hello, on October 23, and simultaneously began an impressive media rollout that included the cover of i-D magazine, an expansive radio tour and confirmation she’ll perform on SNL November 21 with Matthew McConaughey as host.
