And it was the following night while on stage that Adele told fans she had been forced to rule out a night out at Rihanna’s Wembley gig in June – for some very interesting reasons – and could be heading to Coventry instead.

Adele – who has son Angelo, three, with partner Simon Konecki – announced at her show on Friday March 18 that she was headlining Glastonbury.

“I’m thinking of going to Coventry to watch Rihanna because she’s playing Wembley the day before I play Glastonbury, and if I go to that, I’ll have no voice, I know it”.

And she doesn’t want to passively get “stoned” by accident and damage her vocal chords.

The Hello hitmaker revealed that she would be making her Glastonbury debut whilst on stage at the O2 during her six-night residency, as she confessed that she’d struggled to keep the news secret. James join headliners Muse, Adele and Coldplay, as well as PJ Harvey, Jeff Lynne’s ELO and ZZ Top but a full line up is due to be released in April. Adele has been vocal about her nerves about playing the 175,000 size group at Glastonbury, conceding: “The group are too huge – I don’t know whether I could do it”.

“To be honest, those people moaning about it, I’ve probably been more times than them anyway, so shut up”.

“I cherish her”, Adele says. “I gotta try and see her”, the “Hello” songstress, 27, continued.
