Adele On Track For Biggest Album Sales Week In U.S. History
Adele’s newest album, “25” has already sold more than 2.3 million copies in the U.S. alone during the first 3 days on the market, according to the Daily Mail. This thing has as good a chance of hitting 3 million in one week as any record in history.

Thus, 25 is already only the second album to sell more than 2 million copies in a single week since Nielsen Music began tracking sales in 1991.
“When Taylor Swift did 1.3 million previous year, people looked at that and said ‘Wow, how can something like that happen in this day and age?’ ” Bakula said. Since Adele hasn’t released an album since that time, it is likely that the hype has helped her sales. This number is absolutely stunning in an industry where sales numbers have been falling considerably.
Merely crossing the 1 million sales threshold in a single week, something that happened regularly at the end of the 1990s and early in the new millennium, has become an event in itself. “As music consumption has changed over the years, to be able to sell over 2 million albums in just a couple of days is unprecedented”.
Still, “25” is operating at an entirely different – and higher – level.
Adele’s independent United Kingdom label, XL Recordings, last week chose to withhold “25” from online streaming platforms such as Apple Inc’s Apple Music service, privately owned Spotify and Google Play.
The album “25” followed her 2011 breakout album “21” which won multiple Grammys and had sales of more than 11 million.
Sales data for the first full week will be released by Nielsen on November 30.
