Adele performs on stage at The O2

Adele is officially slated to headline Glastonbury 2016 and will join Muse and Coldplay at the festival. This year’s Glastonbury festival takes place in Somerset from 22 to 26 June.

Although a long-time rumour and bookies’ favourite to headline, Adele regularly expressed her objection to playing music festivals, even as late as October past year the BRIT school singer told Capital London’s Breakfast Show: “I think I have made myself pretty clear on Glastonbury”.

“Me doing Glasto?”, she said of performing at the huge event.

But Hally Golightly was less positive, writing: “Adele and Coldplay headlining Glastonbury, so you can take your Mum I guess”. “You’re more f*cking boring for moaning to me about headlining”. However, Glastonbury does mark her first-ever headlining performance at a festival.

But it’s no longer a secret, as reps for the festival confirmed the news via Twitter just after the singer belted out the news to the arena.

Glastonury organiser Emily Eavis, however, has been open about the fact that they would love to have Adele on the Glastonbury stage telling i-D “We love Adele” .

Probed on whether Adele could headline Glastonbury, she replied: “She would, wouldn’t she? She’s a great example because she doesn’t put up any pretence”.

Emily previously hinted at Adele’s booking earlier this month (Mar16), admitting she’d love the singer to appear.
