Adele’s 25 breaks Oasis’ first week sales record

The Grammy victor went on to serenade the “Today” audience with “Million Years Ago”, a heart-wrenching new song inspired by a South London park she once frequented with friends. As her hot album already racked numerous recognitions even before it has dropped for sales, Adele is also expected to take home umpteenth amounts of cash for her new music.

The race to stream Adele’s 25 on one of the three leading music-streaming platforms is over, and Pandora (NYSE:P) is the victor.

“Being in such an incredible relationship with someone that’s so there for me and so loyal and is really part of my core now”, Adele said.

“25” is the first full-length work in four years by Adele, whose last album “21” was the top-seller in the United States for two straight years and by far the biggest release this century in her native Britain. But the man who broke Adele’s heart – whoever he was – is long gone, and Adele has since become a mother and found new love.

The numbers suggest the singer and her record company, Sony Music, will profit from a decision not to release the album on streaming services like Apple Music and Spotify. Billboard is scheduled to report 25’s debut week sales on Sunday, Nov. 29, once Nielsen has finished processing its weekly data.

ADELE has announced a 2016 European tour. That’s 41,000 more than the previous record-holder, Oasis’ Be Here Now, sold in its first week.

“This is a unique situation to the USA market”, says Benny Tarantini, who handles PR for Adele. The Adele team is yet to make a comment on this new development. It seemed only natural that the rest of the songs from 25 would be made available when it was released this past weekend.

He said: “This thing is going to be pushing close to three million by the end of the week, a number I don’t think anybody in the industry thought we’d see, ever”.
