The album is the first by the singer since releasing “21” in 2011, which sold more than 30 million copies worldwide.

Adele’s highly anticipated third studio album “25” shattered the Nielsen record of first-week album sales, previously held by *NSYNC’s sophomore album “No Strings Attached”.
Prior to the release of Adele’s latest album, online streaming sites such as Spotify and Apple Music have been trying to get her to release her album on their sites.
The insane level of anticipation for 25 over the last four years also helps.
It has smashed American sales records, having sold 2.8 million copies in the first five days, including 1.45 million digital sales, according to Nielsen Music.
Taylor Swift’s “1989” album was the last record to achieve the milestone when it opened with almost 1.3 million copies a year ago.
The first sales reports from Adele’s 25 landed with a ceremonious wallop, for the pop singer with the mightiest voice absolutely killed the sales charts. Prior to Nielson Music, it was unknown how many copies of an album or single were sold in a single week.
“25” could function as the quickest-selling record since at least 1991, when Nielsen Music began to monitor weekly music sales in a methodical way.
Adele’s universal appeal reaches people who never buy music to purchase her albums – her sheer omnipresence convinces even the most reluctant consumers to give her a chance.
Taylor Swift did it past year, withdrawing her material from Spotify.
You can’t stream Adele’s new album anywhere.
Pandora doesn’t offer on-demand listening to albums; instead it creates “stations” based on your tastes, and will let you hear three specific cuts by that artist per hour.
Fatone’s former bandmate Lance Bass chimed in on Twitter, referencing one of the group’s most cherished singles.

“I am on the edge, living life on the edge waiting for [Rihanna’s new album]” Adele joked.
